As a recreational and leisure activity for children (8 years and up) and adults with mental retardation, Potter County Human Services supports and offers access to Special Olympics Pennsylvania of Potter County (SOPAPC).  the mission of SOPAPC is to provide year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports, both individually and/or as part of a team.  SOPAPC provides continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.  Competitions are local as well as regional and statewide.  Potter County is currently offering training and competition and in 8 different sports including bowling, softball, basketball, soccer, track and field, cross country skiing, golf and equestrian.  If interested in participating as an athlete or volunteer, please contact Potter County Human Services.
