Started in 1999 from a Delinquency Prevention Grant The Potter County Mentor Program has been uniting county youth with committed volunteer mentors for a supported one-to-one dynamic relationship. Our mission is to prepare youth to become productive members of society, socially and academically while strengthening families and communities. In 2003 the Potter County Mentor Program received a Juvenile Mentoring Program Grant JUMP from the U.S. Department of Justice to start school-based mentoring services. This program is presently in the Northern Potter School District and the Coudersport School District. The program takes place within the school setting at designated times and offers academic assistance to students. Mentors help students with their homework, help with difficult classes and social skills, while building a positive and trusting relationship.
